Oral Histories

As part of her research for the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine's centennial publication, To Secure Merit, Carol Benenson Perloff undertook an extensive series of oral history interviews with PCOM alumni. Most interviews explore college life and the subject's recollections of faculty and fellow students between the 1950s and 1970s. In addition, many subjects also discuss the public and professional acceptance of Osteopathic Medicine, race relations and social history of Philadelphia, the experience of African-American medical students during the post-war and civil rights era, and cultural and social shifts in graduate education.
