Description

Carotid free-floating thrombus is a rare entity. Most patients present with acute neurological symptoms, warranting urgent operative intervention. We describe a case of an 80-year-old male who presented with an embolic stroke and was found to have a mobile carotid thrombus, after the administration of thrombolysis. He underwent carotid endarterectomy, and further neurological injury was prevented.
