Abstract

Joseph A. Dieterle, DO 1970 joined the PCOM faculty in 1974 and became Chairman of PCOM's Department of Pediatrics in 1980, and then served as Vice-President of Academic Affairs until 1989. In this interview, Dr. Dieterle discusses the impact of the social changes of the 1960's on the academic culture at PCOM, clinical training at the new City Avenue Hospital, faculty disputes stemming from his non-osteopathic training in pediatrics, the development of the pediatrics curriculum at PCOM, and the succession of J. Peter Tilley to the Presidency of PCOM in 1984.
