The Weitberg award winner for outstanding service to the Osteopathic Profession is Ethel D. Allen, D.O. Dr. Allen was educated in Philadelphia at the Hallahan school for girls, then attended the West Virginia State College. She did graduate work at the Temple University Graduate School. Dr. Allen received her D.O. Degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1963, followed by Internship at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Presently, Dr. Allen serves as Council-Women at Large for the city of Philadelphia. She is also a member of the President's Commission for the observance of IWY, and is active in the NAACP, the YWCA, and the Black Women's Political Caucus.

DR. JULIUS SOBEL HONORED Julius Sobel, D.O. (PCO 34) a founder and chief of the division of Proctology at Delaware Valley Hospital, Bristol, Pa., was honored at a reception at that institution Feb. 1, 1978 when his portrait was hung in the lobby. He was recognized for his contributions to the growth of the hospital dating back to the early 1950's. In addition a room was named "The Endoscopy Room" in his honor. In other ceremonies in Los Angeles, Dr. Sobel was presented the Distinguished Proctologist Service Award for service to his community and to the college. Dr. Sobel maintains a private practice in Bristol Borough, Pa.
