Abstract
Bacampicillin, a prodrug of ampicillin, is effective and well tolerated in the treatment of acute sinusitis and of acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. A dosage of one or two 400 mg tablets twice daily on a 12-hour schedule rapidly eliminates pathogenic organisms, and ameliorates or resolves signs and symptoms over a 10-day period, thus enabling the patient quickly to resume a more normal daily routine.
