Abstract

The increasing numbers of PAs involved in the supervised practice of medicine and their wide geographical dispersal raises two questions: What is the current perception of PAs by segments of the general public as represented by PAs' negative or positive portrayals in the media? Are the portrayals consistent among the groups represented by each media segment? For example, do the business media tend toward more negative portrayals of PAs while public radio news tends toward more positive portrayals?
